Misc. Portfolio Stuff

More About Me:

I pride myself in my broad creative skillset. I have been drawing for as long as I can remember, started digital art and animation at 13, music composition and programming at 17, and if all goes according to plan I won't ever stop learning.

My goal in life since I was about five years old has been to release a video game that a lot of people like.
I played Cave Story for the first time when I was nine years old, and when I found out it was made by one person my fate was sealed forevermore.

Programming Proficiencies:

I would say I at least understand the basics of:

  • GML
  • C#
  • Java
  • Javascript
  • HTML/CSS
  • OracleSQL

Favourites: GML as a whole, JSON notation, foreach loops, switch statements

Skills: 

My greatest strength is easily my adaptability. You don't adopt this many artforms and hobbies by quitting at everything and refusing to learn them. I haven't been frustrated away from trying something new in what feels like ten years, outside of trying to make music in Tracker softwares which seems like literal black magic to me.

Creatively speaking I would say I excel at pixel art, which I draw with a computer mouse. Because I'm insane.

Personal Projects:

  • Never-Ending Witches Tower (NEWT)
    • Roguelite Shooter-Platformer built in Gamemaker that I worked on for about two years.
    • This was my practice game. It got a few updates until the Alpha release when I put it on hiatus.
    • It is strictly speaking just barely feature complete as long as you don't care about their being an end to the game. You will inevitably become grossly overpowered in every run.
  • This Website
    • Made with pretty basic HTML/CSS. No crazy frills.
    • I think it's relatively useable and looks not like dog-barf though.
    • Has actually been very convenient to share with people.
    • TBH I need to update it more often.
  • Canon
    • This is the main project. Canon is planned to be a Gamemaker RPG that combines typical turn-based combat with the conventions of classic Capcom fighting games.
    • Technically this came first. The original "demo" was made in RPGMaker VX ACE when I was about 17.
    • I made a new demo in Gamemaker a few years back that took me 6 struggle-filled months to complete. I then put it on hold as I worked on NEWT.
    • I came back to it in the summer of 2025.
    • Bringing it to parity with the previous demo took me two days with my newfound skills.

Education:

  • High school diploma.
    • Pretty cool one though.
  • Currently in College for Software Development
